To the delight of Bay Area and Northern California bluegrass lovers, mandolin guru David Grisman is fronting the Dawg Day Afternoon Bluegrass Festival at Green Music Center at Sonoma State University. The David Grisman Sextet will headline the festival being held on Sunday, July 12th. An impressive supporting arsenal of bluegrass titans including The Del McCoury Band and The Earls of Leicester are additionally scheduled to perform. The later is the prolific authentic tribute to the music of Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. Featuring mandolinist/vocalist Tim O’Brien and dobro master Jerry Douglas the ensemble is a bright addition to an already impressive lineup.
The Green Music Center is an intimate venue that features both indoor and outdoor seating. Patrons can choose between value-priced (and student discounted) general admission lawn seats and reserved table seating inside and out with both food and beverage package options. This event is sure to be an epic exploration of bluegrass, folk, and country both traditional and progressive. And of course, Dawg Music! You won’t want to miss the Dawg Day Afternoon Bluegrass Festival this July.
