Dazzle, the renowned jazz club, is marking its first anniversary at the Denver Performing Arts Complex with a series of four spectacular shows on July 31st and August 1st, at 7 PM and 9 PM each night.

Matt Ruff, Owner and Operations Manager, reflects on the journey, “The process to get to the Arts Complex was long and arduous, but I felt this was the correct move for Dazzle. One year at this location has given me proof that we are finally home."

Owner Chad Schneider echoes this sentiment, expressing, “There is no cooler jazz club anywhere and it’s such an honor to be entrusted by the people of Colorado to continue this legacy. I want the best jazz in the world brought to Dazzle. We are succeeding wildly!”

Instead of receiving presents for its birthday, Dazzle is giving back to its audience. Attendees will be entered into drawings before each show to win exciting prizes. Everyone who comes to the shows gets a ticket and a chance to win.

The Best 🎁 of All: Derrick Hodge

The highlight of the celebration will be a performance by Derrick Hodge, who headlined the soft opening for sponsors, friends, and family before Dazzle opened to the public last year. This year, he returns to lead 'The Dazzle Sessions' with fellow Denver-based musicians:

Derrick Hodge is one of contemporary music’s most complete and complex artists. Celebrated as a composer and revered as one of the great bassists of his generation, Hodge's solo projects—Live Today (2013), The Second (2016), and Color of Noize (2020)—have garnered critical acclaim. His music reflects his roots in the church, a passion for hip hop, and a reverence for melody and classical composition.

Hodge has played a role in numerous groundbreaking projects and historic firsts. In 2022, he directed the music for the Academy Awards and arranged Nas’s performance at the Grammys. As part of CNN’s Juneteenth celebration, he conducted the first all-Black orchestra to perform at the Hollywood Bowl. Hodge became the first Black composer to compose hip hop for the National Symphony, orchestrated music for the 20th-anniversary celebration of Illmatic, and has written symphonic music for hip hop at Carnegie Hall and with the Houston Symphony.

Join us at Dazzle to celebrate this milestone and experience the best in jazz, remarkable giveaways, and an unforgettable performance by Derrick Hodge and his band. Don’t miss out on this special occasion!
