Singer-songwriter and band leader, Don McCloskey will celebrate the release of his new album The Chaos and The Beauty on July 22nd at Ardmore Music Hall.  The songwriter will bring his eight-piece band for a boisterous show at a venue not far from where the Bristol native grew up.  “Growing up in the Philly area, we’ve been going to Ardmore shows since it was called Brownie’s – so many great memories there,” says the singer. “Playing the new record with the eight-piece band for friends, family and fans who we haven’t seen in a while has everybody really excited about the show.  Chris Kasper and Calder Allen on the bill is the icing on the cake and I think people are going to leave this show on fire.”

The first single from The Chaos and The Beauty, “First in Flight” was prominently featured in the season two finale of Mythic Quest, handpicked by series creator and Don’s longtime collaborator, Rob McElhenney. It has been streamed over one million times and counting.

In addition to being born and raised in the Greater Philadelphia area, Don is a graduate of St. Joe’s Prep and began his musical career selling out shows at The Grape Street Pub, The Point and maintains the longest running string of sold out shows in Tin Angel history. In 2004, he won two Philly Music Awards -- Best Male Entertainer and Best Acoustic Act.

In 2005, the songwriter was tapped by G Love to open the Midwest leg of The Hustle Tour and G Love invited Don to record the demos for his second record at his studio Philadelphonic. Don teamed up with Philadelphia legendary musician and skater Chuck Treece and Tom Spiker to finish his second record, Northern Liberties, in the neighborhood it was named after and the LP’s first single, "This Just In," a rollicking Dylan-esque send up of Bush era America, was tapped by Jaxon at WMMR as a local pick. The song received such overwhelming listener feedback that it became the first local pick to ever be added to regular rotation.

In 2009 Don wrote the Phillies stadium anthem “Unstoppable” for his side project Guerilladelphia featuring G Love, Chuck Treece, Kufie/Kuf Knotz, and who’s who of Philly horn players produced by Phil Nicolo.  "Unstoppable" was played across all radio formats in Philly sports, rock, AAA, was performed live on Good Day Philadelphia and Preston and Steve and played at Citizen’s Bank Park at every Phillies home game during the 2009 World Series – which was a surreal and incredible experience for a lifelong fan of his hometown team.

Later that year, McCloskey invited his friends in the cast of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia to sit in at his show in Los Angeles at the Troubadour. It inadvertently turned into the stage performance of the Nightman Cometh and became the fastest selling sold out performance in Troubadour history. The cast toured the show with McCloskey opening including a sold-out Beacon Theater in NY and two sold out performances at the Tower Theater in Philly. The unlikely story is detailed in an article in GQ.

In short, there’s not a venue, radio station, TV station, publication, or musician in Philadelphia that doesn’t have some connection with Don McCloskey and his music.
