Following the release of the song “Only Way” in November, Denver-based funk ensemble Envy Alo is at it again with, “Give in to the Light,” the second single off their forthcoming full-length studio album. The single will be released on all major music platforms on Friday, December 6th, the same day the band will play a sold-out show at Cervantes Other Side in Denver with Goose and DIZGO.
In contrast to the gritty rocker “Only Way”, “Give in to the Light” finds the band in a smooth, inspirational place. Within seconds the rich, comforting vocal harmonies from singer Callie Morrocco bring a smile to your face, as you drift into a state of blissful zen. Written by guitarist Kevin Hinder, lyrically the tune is a refreshing anthem calling on listeners to overcome adversity and diffuse negativity by embracing a positive outlook in life. Ominous lines like “Everyday is meant to be a struggle...” or “When darkness is everywhere…” quickly give way to a prescription to “Keep your head up high / Give in to the Light / Let it all go / Don’t stop the fight.” Regardless of circumstance, the song beautifully encourages all of us to not only find the light within ourselves, but to share it with the world.
Recorded at Evergroove Studio in Evergreen, CO, “Give in to the Light” continues with a polished, radio-ready sound for the band. Catchy runs from Hinder and saxophonist Kevin Supina line the tune and gracefully set up Morrocco’s verses throughout. Following a chorus, a tasteful tenor sax solo from Supina flows into a climactic Hammond B3 organ solo from keyboardist Aaron Pettine--perhaps the happiest moment in the objectively happy single.
Conveniently, the release of “Give in to the Light” coincides with a sold-out show for the band at Cervantes Other Side in Denver with Goose and DIZGO. In addition to this play, tickets are now available for the band’s Album Release Party on Saturday, January 18th at Lost Lake in Denver.
