Looks like the “Last Train To Nowhere” has made a stop at the iTunes Top 10 Rock Charts this week. The latest single from blues-rock group GHOST HOUNDS has reached #3 on the U.S. Rock Charts, and #9 in the U.K. “Last Train To Nowhere” is included on the band’s forthcoming album, FIRST LAST TIME, out July 28 via Gibson Records, pre-save the new album HERE.
The track was initially released last week (July 14), along with a stunning performance video, HERE. Of the single and upcoming album, American Songwriter lauded the band for “deftly slipping into Johnny Cash-style country, mid-tempo balladry, even back-porch folk with the same virtuosity they’ve shown in the past when in their bluesy wheelhouse.” Louder Sound also described the song as a “moody, toe-tapping mix of outlaw feeling and Black Stone Cherry-esque grit.”
The explosive track “Last Train To Nowhere” will make its global TV debut on the premiere episode of “Special Ops: Lioness” the new show from “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan--which features Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman--airing this Sunday, July 23, on Paramount+. “Last Train To Nowhere” sets the tone for a pivotal moment during the show, fueling the scene’s intensity throughout.
The song is also driving growth online with over 88,000 new followers, and a 132% increase on the band’s social pages with the release of a new reel on Facebook garnering 1.8M views, over 130k likes, and 16k shares so far.
GHOST HOUNDS’ sound is drenched in the most primal and elemental aspects of rock ‘n’ roll --gritty acoustic and electric blues, Southern swagger, road-weary country, stirring soul, hard-hitting FM rock--and shot through with sticky riffs and choruses, deep-in-the-pocket grooves, good-time vibes and engaging, intimate storytelling. It’s a blend they’ve further honed on their fourth and newest full-length, FIRST LAST TIME.
On FIRST LAST TIME, the dusty, gutbucket stomp of opening salvo “Last Train to Nowhere,” to the bright-toned, anthemic lead single “Dirty Angel,” the barrelhouse piano-inflected rave-up “Chasing You” to the lighthearted and Stones-y romp “Let’s Sleep On It Together,” the country-fied cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Hot Dog” to the all-guns-blazing throttle-rock of “Make It Shake,” the 10-track collection is a dynamic, impassioned and, maybe most importantly, downright fun album that gathers deep and varied musical roots and nurtures them into something distinct, modern and unmistakably GHOST HOUNDS. “You need to be able to add to the musical conversation,” says guitarist/songwriter Thomas Tull. “You can be influenced by other sounds, but to be relevant and interesting, you’d better have something original to say.”
Touring has come in all shapes and sizes, from small, sweaty, packed-like-sardines clubs to the largest stages in the world, GHOST HOUNDS have been tapped to open shows for the likes of ZZ TOP, BOB SEGER, and even THE ROLLING STONES. Now, with FIRST LAST TIME, fans old and new can experience that gripping GHOST HOUNDS energy, and those infectious, inimitable songs, all over again. Put it on and turn it up, and then head out to the local club-or, perhaps closest stadium-when GHOST HOUNDS hit your town. “We just really enjoy playing,” adds Tull. “And I’ve been told that, whether it’s in the studio or on the stage, that joy comes through in what we do. And when people are feeling it? That’s the best feeling in the world.”
On Thursday, July 27, GHOST HOUNDS will celebrate with official album release parties and performances at the Gibson Garage in downtown Nashville. Expect more global tour dates to be announced soon, and stay tuned for FIRST LAST TIME out next Friday, July 28.
