After proving a highlight at Coachella this year, internationally acclaimed Gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello performs today at Bonnaroo on Saturday, June 14 at 4:00 PM on the Which Stage. Come see why Q Magazine calls Eugene Hutz, "a great performer of our times," with what the New York Press is calling "a band that everyone should see live."
Currently on tour in North America and fresh off the heels of Coachella, Gogol Bordello will continue the festival circuit with their "Forces of Victory Tour 2008" with electrifying performances at Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. Their Coachella performance had the Wall Street Journal raving that "Gogol Bordello mashed punk energy with Eastern European modes for a set that received the wildest reception of any show I saw" and the Los Angeles Times was left impressed by the celebration of "sensuality in both words and raucous, joyful internationalist dance rock." Proceeding the US dates, Gogol Bordello will make their way through Europe and Asia including performances at the Alive Festival in Portugal, Exit Festival in Serbia, Sonic Art Festival in France and Fuji Rock in Japan.
Gogol Bordello's 2007 release SUPER TARANTA!, their most prolific album to date has earned them glowing praise from the press worldwide. Punkbands.com says "Super Taranta! stands as a testament to the great (and unique) songwriting of the band, which is better than ever."
Gogol Bordello front-man, Eugene Hutz will also be seen this fall in the Madonna-directed film, 'Filth & Wisdom' in which he stars in the lead role and is the inspiration for the movie. Madonna and Eugene's first collaboration was this past summer when they performed together at Live Earth in London. Eugene and Sergey performed a Romanesque version of "La Isla Bonita" that combined Gogol Bordello's gypsy-stomper "Lela Pala Tute" with Madonna singing in Romanes.
