Goose took their growing passion for experiential music events to unprecedented heights with “Goose at Luna Luna: Everything Must Go Experience,” an exclusive one-night celebration of their eagerly awaited fourth studio album, Everything Must Go, held last night at the visionary Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy exhibit at The Shed in New York City.
Stepping through the doors of Luna Luna, fans were transported into an otherworldly carnival of imagination, marking the lead-up to Everything Must Go with an evening that defied convention and left attendees in awe. Characters from Brian Blomerth’s eccentric cover artwork roamed the space, engaging attendees in whimsical theatrics and storytelling infused with the vibrant, surreal energy of Everything Must Go. Curated installations brought the album’s themes to life, while the air hummed with the modular beats of Brooklyn producer Abe Seiferth, who deconstructed and reimagined tracks from the album in real time. Guests explored interactive soundscapes, a vinyl listening lounge, and a one-of-a-kind merch corner featuring event merchandise alongside thrifted and upcycled items hand-selected by the band.
The transcendent evening was a testament to Goose’s artistic vision and collaborative spirit, brought vividly to life by their partnership with experiential creative Justin Bolognino and his company META. With “Goose at Luna Luna: The Everything Must Go Experience,” Goose has proven their ability to push boundaries, creating a fully immersive art-inspired spectacle that has set a new standard for album release events.
At 8:30 pm, Goose took center stage, performing on a cozy platform surrounded by an intimate capacity crowd. Building on the night’s spirit of innovation, the band delivered a fully improvisational 75-minute set that was both daring and breathtaking. Drummer Cotter Ellis set the tone, launching into tribal rhythms that gave the performance an explosive, percussive heartbeat. The spontaneity flowed throughout the evening as Rick Mitarotonda unveiled cryptic and haunting lyrics sourced directly from a sign-in book where fans had penned messages earlier in the night, blurring the line between performer and audience. The musical improvisation reached electrifying heights with the addition of guest saxophonist Stuart Bogie, whose soulful melodies elevated the set into uncharted territory. Moments of clarity alternated with stormy crescendos, offering a kaleidoscopic mix of ethereal guitar lines, wild dynamics, and tension-filled peaks that erupted into cathartic releases. Bogie seamlessly switched to clarinet for a contrast of airy sweetness during one mesmerizing section, which transitioned into a vocal jam that spellbound the crowd. Goose’s vaunted ability to channel raw creativity through every note left the room entranced, as the music unfolded in stunning, unpredictable sequences.
Everything Must Go arrives everywhere via No Coincidence Records on Friday, April 25. Pre-orders are available now. The Connecticut-based band’s first new studio LP in close to three years following 2022’s critically acclaimed Dripfield, Everything Must Go marks both a statement of intent for Goose as well as an arrival of sorts — a journey for fans and newcomers alike through the group’s past, present, and infinite future. Drawing from the feel of its live performances, the album features a carnivalesque cast of characters — primarily songs written throughout the band’s recent years of growth, including re-imagined live staples and songs that capture the band’s evolving, dynamic sound. Produced once again by D. James Goodwin, Everything Must Go includes such ingenious new tracks as the searching “Lead Up” and euphoric first single, “Give It Time,” the latter accompanied by an official music video featuring exclusive behind-the-scenes explosive live performance footage that perfectly matches the song’s message of strength derived from new beginnings.
