The Greyboy Allstars have announced New Year's Eve plans with a three night run, December 29 through December 31, at The Casbah in San Diego, CA. Comprised by Karl Denson (saxophone, flute), Elgin Park (guitars), Robert Walter (keys), Chris Stillwell (bass) and Aaron Redfield (drums), The Greyboy Allstars will be joined on these hometown performances by DJ Greyboy for whom the band was named after while collaborating with the legendary turntablist back in 1993. The Casbah shows will also serve as a kick-off celebration for The Greyboy Allstars 30th anniversary in 2023. Being dubbed GBA30, plans are underway for a number of events throughout next year to mark this milestone. Tickets for the New Year’s Eve dates go on-sale this Friday, September 23 at 10am PT.
Most recently the band reissued their landmark studio album, A Town Called Earth, on streaming outlets and limited edition 2-LP 180-gram, color vinyl for its 25th anniversary. Released in 1997, it was the their second studio album, finding The Greyboy Allstars moving beyond their influences to redefine funk for the coming millennium.
Earlier in 2022, The Greyboy Allstars released their first covers album, Get a Job: Music From The Original Broadcast Series Soul Dream, featuring 10 cuts by artists like Gil Scott-Heron, The Beatles and Burt Bacharach. The collection was captured live in the studio during The Greyboy Allstars' 2021 "Soul Dream" live-stream series on Nugs.net. They supported the release with a cross-country U.S. tour.
Currently, The Greyboy Allstars’ keyboardist Robert Walter is performing with Roger Waters on his "This Is Not A Drill" tour, while saxophonist Karl Denson is a touring member of The Rolling Stones.
