Grateful Web is thrilled to announce the upcoming performances of the Dave Stryker Organ Trio with special guest Bob Mintzer at Birdland Jazz Club, New York, taking place on July 4-8, 2023. The residency at Birdland, located at 315 West 44th Street, New York, NY, will feature five evenings of dynamic jazz music.

Acclaimed guitarist Dave Stryker has built a remarkable career, both as a bandleader—with 35 CD's to his name—and as a sideman, notably with Stanley Turrentine and Jack McDuff. His distinctive style earned him accolades from Gary Giddins in the Village Voice as "one of the most distinctive guitarists to come along in recent years." His most recent recording, "Prime," showcases his working trio, which includes Jared Gold on organ and McClenty Hunter on drums. This lineup notably served as the opening act for Steely Dan's 2002 summer tour.

Adding to the lineup is special guest Bob Mintzer, a distinguished saxophonist, arranger, and educator. Currently holding the Barbara and Buzz McCoy endowed chair at the USC Thornton School of Music, Mintzer's resume includes a 30-year tenure with the Yellowjackets and a role as chief conductor of the WDR Big Band in Cologne, Germany. Mintzer has performed with numerous jazz and orchestral luminaries, and his contributions to the genre extend to over 500 big band arrangements and several study books.

The Dave Stryker Organ Trio features organist Jared Gold, who has established himself as one of New York's most sought-after musicians, drawing upon the influences of Larry Young, Jack McDuff, and Don Patterson, but also prioritizing the development of his unique voice and philosophy. Drummer, educator, composer, and Grammy-nominated artist McClenty Hunter rounds out the trio. Hunter has performed with jazz greats including Lou Donaldson, Cedar Walton, Jimmy Heath, Kenny Garrett, Buster Williams, and Curtis Fuller.

Together, these musicians promise to create an unforgettable series of performances at Birdland, the jazz corner of the world.

The tickets for the event are available at Birdland's website. For further information, please call Birdland at (212) 581-3080.
