With only six weeks to go before the ninth annual Harvest Music Festival, organizers just announced the daily music lineup schedule for the 2014 festival. Harvest Music Festival will take place on the majestic Mulberry Mountain near Ozark, Arkansas on October 16-18, 2014 and will feature 4 stages, nearly 100 sets of music, workshops, outdoor activities including plentiful kid-friendly programs and much more.
Hosts, Yonder Mountain String Band will perform all three nights and are thrilled to be joined by Grammy award winner Jerry Douglas, mandolin player and member of Joy Kills Sorrow, Jake Jolliff, and the talented fiddle artist, Allie Kral.
On Thursday, the American alternative country rock band, The Jayhawks will grace the Main Stage followed by bluegrass pioneers, Trampled by Turtles. Yonder Mountain will then close out the evening with a special late-night show in the Harvest Tent. Friday night’s headlining acts on the Main Stage will feature Grammy-winning traditional African-American string band, The Carolina Chocolate Drops and afterwards, hosts Yonder Mountain String Band. On Saturday, funk band Lettuce will tear up the Main Stage before Americana Bluegrass Band, Railroad Earth. Yonder Mountain will close out the festival on the Main Stage on Saturday evening.
Back for the 4th year is the Harvest Songwriting and Fiddlin’ & Pickin’ Contest on Friday, Oct 18 and Sat, Oct 18. The Songwriting Contest will allow acoustic performers to submit a short MP3 of their custom Harvest Festival song. Each contestant must mention two out of five predetermined subjects pertaining to the festival including Harvest Music Festival, Mulberry Mountain, Yonder Mountain String Band, Ozark Mountains or Harvest Moon. The Fiddlin’ and Pickin’ Contest Contestants will be allowed to compete using the mandolin, fiddle, flatpicking guitar, or the banjo and will be judged on execution, rhythm, difficulty/uniqueness and expression. The lucky winner will have a chance to play with one of their favorite bands.
