Music’s favorite pin up girl Heather Ballentine has released her debut album, The Cat’s Meow on Cool Cat Records and was produced by U.S. roots music legend and Grammy winner Pete Anderson (Dwight Yoakam, Roy Orbison, Lucinda Williams). “I’ve wanted to work with Pete my entire life,” says Heather. “He knows exactly what to do with each song and was able to bring out the best in me and embrace my voice. It’s been an absolute honor to work with him.” Anderson also played guitar and bass on the album which Heather says “really gives it that signature Pete Anderson style that I fell in love with as a girl.”
Born and raised in Arkansas, Heather credits her passion for pin up fashion, culture, and retro music to her parents. Listening to artists including Elvis, Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash, she has used her musical influences to create her own signature sound, blending swing music with country and rockabilly. Heather has been described as an artist with a unique sound and genuine retro charm.
The album features 10 songs that showcase Heather’s strong authentic vocals, and songwriting abilities. “The best thing I learned through the recording process was to trust myself and my own voice,” she says. “To have the confidence to explain my production ideas even if Pete thought they were crazy at first. For example, I wanted horns and steel on "Kiss Me" and he disagreed and said nobody does that...but in the end we decided it became my signature sound. It turned out so well....like Patsy Cline meets Michael Buble'.”
