The holy grail of mainstream psychedelic rock posters, an original Skeleton and Roses Grateful Dead Poster from 1966, is up for auction at Goldin, leading collectible marketplace. This rare and iconic piece has a grade of 9.8 from CGC, one of the finest conditions ever to appear at auction.

Considered to be "the pioneering godfathers of the jam band world,” the Grateful Dead are well-regarded for their eclectic style and are known for their devoted fan base of "Deadheads." The Skeleton and Roses poster promoted the Grateful Dead’s performances at the Avalon Ballroom in September 1966 and the band also used the now-famous imagery for an official logo later on in their career. This poster was made through the collaborative efforts of two artists, Stanley “Mouse” Miller and Alton Kelley, who are known for producing posters for concerts and events in the psychedelic community in the 1960’s. With the final tour of the Dead and Company concluding earlier this month, Goldin expects wide interest in the poster and for it to sell for over $100,000.
