It was 50 years ago this summer that Jefferson Airplane formed and quickly established themselves as the progenitors of the infamous San Francisco psychedelic rock sound.
With historic performances at Woodstock, Monterey Pop Festival, Altamont and other theaters, arenas and stadiums throughout the world, Jefferson Airplane had many Top 10 hits, including "Somebody To Love" and "White Rabbit", sold millions of albums in the late 60's and early 70's, and influenced generations of rock music fans.
In 1972, Jorma and Jack left the band for creative reasons and have toured as Hot Tuna ever since.
In an exclusive Lockn' Festival engagement, they will be joined by Rachael Price (Lake Street Dive), G.E. Smith (formerly of SNL), Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams (Bob Dylan, Levon Helm Band) Jeff Pehrson (Furthur), Justin Guip (Hot Tuna), and very special guest Bill Kreutzmann of Grateful Dead on drums.
The 2015 Lockn' Festival will be held September 10-13th at the Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, Virginia and will also feature Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters performing two nights with two different sets, Phil Lesh & Friends with Carlos Santana, Mad Dogs & Englishmen: A Tribute to Joe Cocker featuring Tedeschi Trucks Band, Leon Russell, 11 original Mad Dogs members, Chris Robinson and more, Widespread Panic with special guest Jimmy Cliff, Gov't Mule, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, The Doobie Incident featuring The Doobie Brothers with The String Cheese Incident, Little Feat, St. Paul & The Broken Bones and many more.
