Acclaimed artist Madison Cunningham is nominated for “Best American Roots Performance” for “Inventing the Wheel” at the 66th Annual GRAMMY® Awards.
This is Cunningham’s fifth GRAMMY® nomination. Revealer was released last year to widespread critical acclaim and took home the GRAMMY® Award for Best Folk Album at the 65th Annual ceremony. Cunningham earned nods for “Best Folk Album” for Wednesday (Extended Edition), “Best Americana Album” for Who Are You Now and “Best American Roots Performance” for “Life According to Raechel.”
Revealer (Deluxe Edition) is out now on Verve Forecast and has received praise from The New York Times, NPR Music and more. Listen HERE.
Cunningham just finished serving as direct support for the entirety of Hozier’s U.S. tour, a 25-city run including New York’s Madison Square Garden, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl and more. In addition, Cunningham is set to support John Mayer on his spring 2024 E.U./U.K. solo run. See below for a complete list of dates.
“The clear leader of her band of crack, Southern California musicians…she was also our audacious guide, steering us toward exploration with the shrewd parts she played on three different guitars over the course of four songs.”—NPR Music “Tiny Desk”
“[‘Our Rebellion’ is] a perpetual-motion weave of deftly picked guitar lines in a brisk 7/4 meter, stacking up and realigning, jabbing and easing off, sometimes running backward, as the crafty wrangling goes on.”—The New York Times
“She may draw you in with her guitar riffs—intricate, experimental and rhythmically dense. Perhaps it’s her voice, rich in country-rock earthiness yet expressive on a technical level. Maybe it’s the vividly painted character portraits that anchor her lyrics. What your entry point is, the California native expertly balances weirdness and warmth on her second LP, Revealer.”—Relix
“Revealer contains some of the most fearless guitar playing and tones you’ll hear today.” —Guitar World
“Not only is she a master of arranging inimitable indie rock gems, she’s an incredible guitar player, period.”—Consequence
“Her songs feel like perfectly and eccentrically built cupboards, housing everything just so inside different nooks, making well-organized space for the shape of
every word and synth swell. From the melodies and arrangements to the lyrics, it is clear that this LP is in the most vulnerable space, one of self-consciousness coupled with a lot of emotion in every possible direction.”—Paste Magazine
