Lake Nakoma have emerged with their debut single "Burying Old Bones" today, a triumphant ode to starting anew which showcases the undeniable and effortless chemistry between the musicians at its helm. A collaboration years in the making from Alabama Shakes guitarist Heath Fogg and fellow Athens, AL musician Colin Woltmann - Lake Nakoma developed their dreamlike sonic world with help from community members like Fogg's Alabama Shakes bandmate Zac Cockrell, keyboardist/engineer Ben Tanner (Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, Nicole Atkins) and drummer Derrek Phillips (Alison Krauss, Hank Williams Jr., Dr. John). Initially uniting to work on Woltmann's solo material, the pair quickly realized how well-suited they were for collaboration - finding an almost-uncanny symmetry between Fogg's guitar arrangements and Woltmann's vocal delivery. The results radiate powerfully and impeccably throughout their self-titled debut album, which comes May 9 via the Muscle Shoals-based, GRAMMY and Libera-winning independent label Single Lock Records.

On "Burying Old Bones," Lake Nakoma offer a gripping portrait of battling adversity head-on and finding the strength to use those lessons for the positive..."burying old bones, just to bring them back to life." It's an ode to the difficulties of change, and the power of shifting perspective. To healing from pain and loss, but keeping alive the spirit of what was lost in the first place. To discovering hope in the darkest of times, and working to make something good out of something bad. Woltmann recalls: “I wrote that at a time when my wife and I were dealing with a lot of difficult transitions in our lives. There’s a theme of transformation woven throughout the record, and that song is the beginning phase of the whole process.” Behind a gorgeous assemblage of sonic details - woozy guitar tones from Fogg, ethereal synths, spontaneously captured field recordings of a chirping bird - "Burying Old Bones" masterfully captures the magic of Lake Nakoma on an altogether-alluring introduction.
