On Friday March 11th reggae sensation Mighty Mystic will release his highly anticipated third album titled "The Art of Balance". This project will be released through California based Roots Musician Records which is the brainchild of E.N Young (member of Tribal Seeds). This will mark the first time these two reggae entities will be working together thus far.
Insight:
Mighty Mystic whose real name is Kevin Holness was born in Jamaica but grew up thousands of miles away in Boston MA. He is also the younger brother of former Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness. Mighty Mystic gained early success with the 2006 hit "Riding on the Clouds" which subsequently spawned his first album "Wake up the World" in 2010. He has worked with some of the industry’s biggest and most respected artist like Lutan Fyah and reggae icon Shaggy to name a few. His last album "Concrete World" debuted at number 6 on the Billboard reggae charts and boasted several successful single releases such as "Cali Green", "Concrete World", "True Love" and "War (Rumors of War)". His efforts in the genre have gained him the title as one of the leaders in the modern reggae revival.
The Album:
Mighty Mystic's "The Art of Balance" album is sure to be a bright light for the reggae genre as it is in the vein of what we all love about reggae music but with a little "Mighty" sprinkled throughout. From the musical composition to the hand painted album artwork this album is truly a one of a kind. Mystic says "I went into this album the same way I live my life which is as close to being balanced as possible. Balance in fun, seriousness, laughing or crying, health and well being and knowing when it’s ok to eat a little Junk food. While that might sound corny it's true, I like to keep my life balanced so why not the music".
Stand Outs:
This 15 track album is a rarity in that every song is simply special. But to narrow things down a bit we've selected the following...
Solid as a Rock: This acoustic piece of art is awe inspiring.
Something Bout Mary: looking for catchy with "High" energy? Then look no further.
How Many Miles: Wonderful balance between reggae and classic rock that has been missing from the genre.
Rebels: When the mission requires motivation this is the song that should be on repeat.
How I Rock: Just me and my 1969 Chevy painting the town red blasting this heavy tune.
Boys in Blue: Shedding light on a serious issue that is plaguing the streets of America and beyond.
Easy: When you’re ready to chill this song is the ultimate soundtrack.
