Philadelphia Folk Festival is proud to share the daily lineup for its 60th anniversary celebration taking place August 18-21, 2022 at Old Pool Farm just north of Philadelphia. Spanning four days of eclectic artistry, the milestone event kicks off Thursday evening with performances by Louisiana-based soul outfit J & the Causeways, Celtic-pop sister act Screaming Orphans, and award-winning Scottish folk rockers Talisk. Friday will see marquee appearances by Talisk and Dustbowl Revival, with the highly-anticipated return of American Acoustic: The Punch Brothers and Watchhouse featuring Sarah Jarosz closing out the Martin Guitar main stage. Saturday standouts Arrested Development and Tom Rush will pass the torch to headliners Michael Franti & Spearhead while Hiss Golden Messenger and The War & Treaty gear up for their respective Sunday night closers. Festival veteran Christine Lavin will be present Friday-Sunday as emcee and artist-in-residence. A complete day-by-day breakdown is below.
The oldest continuously run outdoor music festival in North America, the Philadelphia Folk Festival weaves folkways from all corners of the earth into one can’t miss spectacle. Featuring a melodious mix of roots, rock, hip hop and global beats from the Scottish Highlands to the northernmost tip of Scandinavia, the iconic heritage event is known for its transcendent lineups that put the far-reaching influence of the folk canon on full display. Now entering its 60th year, the festival continues to deliver show-stopping productions to a zealous fanbase spanning multiple generations.
The inaugural Martin Stage Melee is currently in full swing at the Philadelphia Folksong Society where 32 artists from the Philadelphia Music Co-Op have been competing for a Martin Stage slot at this year’s festival. Having just completed its Semifinal Round 3, just a few weeks remain until one fan-chosen winner will go on to perform a triumphant main stage set at the 2022 festival.
