After a stunning response to the surprise announcement of their first tour in decades, The Revolution have now confirmed they will perform additional dates in North America this coming New Year’s weekend, in addition to more shows in 2018 (see below for full itinerary). Fans and critics quickly responded to the earlier tour with excitement and sincere appreciation for the music of The Revolution and Prince -- an artist who is deeply loved and immensely missed.
The Revolution band members (Wendy, Lisa, Bobby Z, Brownmark and Dr. Fink) are excited to keep the music, legacy, and spirit of Prince alive by performing the catalogue of music they all created together.
Hitting much of the U.S. this past summer, The Revolution ended the tour with a final sold out show in Los Angeles on Labor Day. While taking a quick break, it became obvious that there were many parts of the country who still wanted to see the reunited band perform. Two shows are set for New Year’s weekend in Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville, LA. The band will reconvene in February for a trio of shows in New Orleans, LA, Ft. Lauderdale, FL and finally, Atlanta, GA (Brown mark’s current homebase) where fans have been begging the band to visit.
"The Revolution are not only capable of getting you through one of the hardest moments of your life, they’re capable of carrying the legacy on too." - Houston Press
“...these were faithful renditions of Prince’s greatest compositions, lovingly delivered by the very hands that helped make us all believers in the first place. He’s lucky to have these five acting as his custodians, and so are we.” Washington Post
The Revolution formed in 1979 when Prince joined drummer, Bobby Z and keyboardist Matt Fink. Over the next four years, several formations would emerge until finally Prince found the band he felt could master the challenging musicality of his vision. The legendary final line-up included Lisa Coleman on keyboards/piano, Wendy Melvoin on guitar and Brown Mark on bass. The Revolution was credited on three Prince studio-albums, Purple Rain, Around the World In a Day and Parade while some members also played on 1999, Controversy, Dirty Mind, Around The World in A Day and Sign O The Times. Together, they earned multiple #1 hits, as well as two Grammy® Awards and an Oscar, with the song “Purple Rain,” for Best Original Song Score in 1985.
