GRAMMY and Pulitzer Prize-winning artist Rhiannon Giddens made her return to the Jimmy Kimmel Live! stage last night, performing a rousing rendition of her GRAMMY-nominated song “You Louisiana Man” featured on her widely celebrated album You’re The One. The performance is the latest in what has been a tremendous 2024 for Giddens so far. Her international tour continues with shows this week in Austin and at the Jazz and Heritage Festival in New Orleans, with Newport Folk Festival confirmed for July 27. In March, Giddens sold out the Beacon Theater, her biggest-ever show in New York City, and last week sold out the United Artist Theater on Broadway in Los Angeles.

Since the release of You’re The One - her first album of all original music - Giddens has made a number of television appearances, including a performance and interview on The Daily Show, as well as Today Show, CBS Saturday, CBS Mornings, and PBS’s Amanpour. Other profiles and coverage includes the New York Times, Vulture’s “A Long Talk,” NPR’s Morning Edition, Associated Press, GRAMMY.com, American Songwriter and Garden & Gun, with additional pieces and reviews from Variety, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Pitchfork and NPR Music.

Giddens has also recently made headlines for her banjo and viola contributions to Beyonce’s history-making song "Texas Hold 'Em,” igniting new conversations surrounding Giddens' long standing dedication to shining a light on the often unacknowledged role of Black music and artistry in country and roots music. Giddens has also just revealed details about the second season of her PBS special, My Music With Rhiannon Giddens. Scheduled to debut in May, it will feature six episodes spotlighting her collaboration with the Silkroad Ensemble on "American Railroad," a flagship initiative under her role as Silkroad's Artistic Director. Each episode will showcase a half-hour performance and discussion with a distinguished musician representing a culture pivotal to the transcontinental railroad's history. The first episode will be available to stream on PBS.org starting today.

In addition to the aforementioned GRAMMY nomination for “You Louisiana Man,” You’re The One also earned a Best Americana Album nomination, making her a 10-time nominee. She won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize in music for her opera Omar, which she wrote in collaboration with Michael Abels, and is a MacArthur “Genius” grant recipient. A multi-faceted artist, she has also published two children’s books featuring her lyrics, hosts the Aria Code podcast on WQXR, has composed music for ballet and film, and one of her songs is featured in the hit video game Red Dead Redemption 2. Her musical versatility has led her to collaborations with Questlove, Yo-Yo Ma, and Samuel L. Jackson; she also has fans in Elvis Costello, John Turturro, and Lucy Liu.
