Guitar badass Samantha Fish and outlaw country maverick Jesse Dayton. are pleased to announce the Shake 'em on Down tour commencing on November 28th in Memphis, TN, winding its way along the East Coast, and landing in Birmingham, AL on December 10th. Joining them on the road will be Jon Spencer, who produced Samantha & Jesse's full-length, Death Wish Blues, and celebrated guitarist Eric Johanson.
Fish and Dayton got together via an innocent co-writing session. They envisioned a sound that married the explosive blues with alt-rock. Out of this came an EP of covers, The Stardust Sessions. Following soon thereafter was Death Wish Blues, the duo's fully realized collaboration, which topped the Billboard Blues Chart for three consecutive weeks. The record, written by Samantha and Jesse, showcases the pair's apparent chemistry and gritty vitality. They've since graced the cover of Vintage Guitar and have received raves from Rolling Stone, Guitar World, Forbes, No Depression, American Songwriter and Garden & Gun, just to name a few.
An award-winning singer, songwriter, and lead guitarist, Samantha Fish has released six albums throughout her acclaimed career, with 2019's Faster and 2021's Kill or Be Kind released via Rounder Records. Known first and foremost for her fretwork, Fish's secret weapon is her intelligent and nuanced storytelling and ultra-vivid detail from carefully honing her craft. Of her sound, Samantha declares, "It's not pure rock and roll, it's not pure blues, it's not pure soul, it's not pure pop — it's a mixture of everything," she says of her genre-bending sound, For Fish, one of the greatest joys of making music is the robust exchange of energy at her incendiary live shows. "I fell in love with music from going to shows, and I know how cathartic it can be. It heals your heart," she says. "Anytime I play live, I just want to make people forget about everything else in the world and feel that same joy that I feel on stage."
Jesse Dayton has been bringing his unique mashup of East Texas / Louisiana Blues, old-school country, and punk rock to the world since his debut album in 1995. Thirteen records later, he remains a staple on SiriusXM's Outlaw Country and the Americana Radio charts, where his debut LP, Raising Cain, reached #1. Jesse's career reads like a veritable "who's who" of American music. He's toured with Social Distortion, Supersuckers, George Strait, Ryan Bingham, and LA punk pioneers X. He's recorded with legends such as Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, and Willie Nelson. He has also recorded three soundtracks for filmmaker Rob Zombie. One can read about Dayton's storied past in his 2022 memoir, Beaumonster.
