Today, Spafford unveil their highly anticipated sophomore studio album, For Amusement Only, now available everywhere. This marks the band's first studio effort – and first ever LP release – in nearly 6 years. Spafford has been garnering acclaim on this most recent album cycle, with GuitarWorld praising "Leave The Light On," the record's lead single, "a bright, buoyant track that demonstrates the group's reggae influences, while also offering a tantalizing hint at the more improvisation-heavy side they demonstrate during their famous live performances," while the Washington Post applauded the group's "genre-defying live jams [and] offbeat covers," along their recent tour.
Recorded at I.V. Lab Studios in Chicago, For Amusement Only includes studio renditions of fan favorites "Leave the Light On," "Ain't That Wrong," and "Mind's Unchained," as well as new songs like "Fuel" and "When It Falls." Please find a full tracklisting below. In advance of the record, Spafford released a lyric video for "Leave The Light On," and guitarist Brian Moss penned a narrative for Relix surrounding the story behind "Ain't That Wrong," which can be read here.
Although Spafford first toured outside of the Southwest during the tail end of 2016, the group has quickly transformed into a nationally touring powerhouse – nearly every 2018 tour date thus far has sold out in advance. In addition to the album release, later this year, Spafford will make debut appearances at Red Rocks Amphitheater for Bisco Inferno, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and Firefly Music Festival.
