The initial lineup of artists performing in its 2023 XPoNential Music Festival presented by Subaru has been announced by Philadelphia public radio station WXPN. The 30th annual outdoor music festival produced by WXPN will take place from Friday, September 22 through Sunday, September 24 at Wiggins Park on the Camden, New Jersey waterfront, directly across the Delaware River from Philadelphia.
Reflecting WXPN’s commitment to musical diversity, the artists who will perform at the two stages in Wiggins Park include Old Crow Medicine Show, Tegan and Sara, Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers, The Hold Steady, Margo Price, Allison Russell, Low Cut Connie, Sammy Rae & The Friends, Bailen, Celisse, Leyla McCalla, Say She She, Sunny War, Don McCloskey, Julia Pratt, Nik Greeley & The Operators, Moustapha Noumbissi, Mobbluz and Velvet Rouge. More artists will be announced.
Festival tickets will be available for the general public at the festival’s website, xpnfest.org, starting this Friday, April 21 at 10 am ET. WXPN members can purchase tickets starting Thursday, April 20.
This is the 30th year that WXPN, the non-commercial, member-supported radio station of the University of Pennsylvania, has presented its outdoor music festival. To help mark the occasion, Philadelphia artist Hannah Westerman has created a vibrant poster design that illustrates celebrated scenes from the festival over the years.
For the first time in the last eleven years, the festival will not include evening concerts at the nearby Freedom Mortgage Pavilion. WXPN General Manager Roger LaMay said, “For our 30th year, we’re gathering with the WXPN community entirely in Wiggins Park, our festival home since 2005, for an intimate concert experience that recalls and honors the festival’s roots.”
Produced in partnership with the Camden County Board of Commissioners and featuring WXPN’s expertly curated mix of established, new and local artists, the XPoNential Music Festival is WXPN’s signature annual concert event that draws audiences from throughout the Greater Philadelphia area, Mid-Atlantic region, and Northeastern US to the Delaware Riverfront in Camden. The festival’s Wiggins Park location offers convenient access via public transportation, two stages and natural amphitheaters that produce great sound, and festival seating and riverfront promenades that offer spectacular views of the Delaware River and Philadelphia skyline. Festival amenities include an artist meet-and-greet area for WXPN members, a children’s activities area, and extensive food, drink, and vendor selections.
