This past week Chicago was on fire with The Grateful Dead in town for their Fare Thee Well concerts. What an honor to be the chosen city for an end of a celebrated era. And what came along with the GD50 was a host of seller concerts throughout the city. From Cabaret Metro and Thalia Hall to City Winery and Concord Music Hall musicians were ecstatically paying homage. The common theme was ‘Thank You Grateful Dead!’ This took form in amazing renditions of familiar dead songs played by accomplished musicians, but also musicians who were above all this week, Grateful Dead fans. This Thievery Corporation and Beats Antique concert paid the greatest and most unique tribute as only can be done in their own musical styles.
