Regina, Saskatchewan alt-country outlaws The Dead South will officially release their full-length debut album, Good Company, this past February through Curve Music/Entertainment One.

The quartet -- sometimes described as Mumford & Sons' evil twins -- have been consistently taking their unique live show across North America and Europe for the past year and are eager to keep up that schedule in 2016, starting with appearances at Folk Alliance in Kansas City this month and South By South West in Austin next month.

Last fall, The Dead South made a splash in Toronto by performing on a flatbed truck at various downtown locations, including Yonge-Dundas Square. The appearance marked the release of their latest video for the track "Honey You," which has been in regular rotation on CMT Canada.

Co-produced by Orion Paradis (Rah Rah, Library Voices), Good Company includes songs about timeless subjects such as lovin’, cheatin’, killin’ and drinkin’.

It all adds up to what makes The Dead South — Nate Hills (lead vocals, guitar, mandolin), Scott Pringle (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Colton Crawford (banjo, kick drum) and Danny Kenyon (cello, vocals) — the modern hillbillies they are, a band that can make you forget your troubles and even what century you’re in.

Canadian bluegrass band The Dead South are set to bring their foot-stomping music to Western Canada on an 18-date fall tour in support of their upcoming album Illusion and Doubt (Curve Music / Entertainment One), set to be released November 18, 2016. The tour will kick off on November 23 at Tracks Pub in Olds, AB and wrap on December 16 at The Exchange in their hometown of Regina, SK. For ticket information visit: www.thedeadsouth.com.

Illusion and Doubt is a refreshing take on bluegrass and folk, while also incorporating elements of rock, punk and classical music to the tracks. The lead single "Boots,"opens the album with an up-tempo beat and features lyrics about free-spirited love. After a short quiet prelude, the banjo and guitar pick-up will have listeners on their feet dancing. The spirited song showcases The Dead South's talent and knack for encompassing humour into their music. Released in advance in Europe, Illusion and Doubt rose in the Denmark music charts to break the Top 10.

"We're beyond excited to release our second album, llusion & Doubt! It represents the culmination of everything we've been up to since the release of Good Company," said banjo player, Colton Crawford. "Jason Plumb's production allowed us to get everything to sound just how we wanted it, and we can't wait for you to hear it."

The Dead South's sound and style transcends time. Wearing white shirts with black suspenders, black pants and travellers' hats, The Dead South are fun, modern-day hillbillies who marry an incredible stage presence with their distinct country twang that includes banjos, mandolins, a cello, guitars, whistles, finger snapping and occasionally some head banging.

Singing about murderous estranged spouses to runaway lover cousins, the band encourages fans to kick back, enjoy the music and forget what era they're in.
