Composer Jeff Cardoni is honored to present his first solo EP album NUOVO FUTURO available now for digital purchase and streaming.

“Nuovo Futuro - a new future seems to be the sentiment that we’re all feeling in our current world,” expressed Cardoni regarding the title of his EP. “With this album, I wanted to try and twist the darkness into beauty and give everyone a moment of hope to reflect on a brighter day surely that lies ahead.” Encouragingly, Cardoni also added, “In the words of the great Stanley Kubrick, ‘However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light.’”

Jeff Cardoni’s new album Nuovo Futuro was influenced by classic dystopian literature, which has taken on a new relevancy in today’s Orwellian world.  From Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World” in “Sleep After Soma” to D.G. Compton’s “An Unsleeping Eye”, to Omar El Akkad’s recent “An American War” referenced in “Reunification Day”, the theme of darkness and rebirth was a constant in crafting the album. Each track walks the line between light and darkness, resurrection and redemption, death and rebirth.

The sound concept for the album was purity of sound, getting as much emotional impact from as few elements possible. Influenced by modern artists such as Sigur Ros, Explosions In The Sky, Radiohead, Max Richter and blending classical sensibilities, the album attempts be modern yet rooted in history. Instrumentation was intentionally simple - electric guitars and loopers performed by Jeff and a modern twist on a string quintet - forgoing high strings in favor of a lower tonality - with two violas, two celli, and upright bass. Recorded in Los Angeles in early 2020, the sonic mix is pure, straightforward, and vibrant.
