Summer 2016 Concerts @ Sonoma State

Weill Hall + Lawn at Sonoma State University’s Green Music Center (GMC) announces the lineup for the Summer 2016 Season—the GMC’s fourth summer season in Weill Hall + Lawn.

The season comprises 23 performances from the genres of country, pop, Latin, folk, rock and bluegrass music, as well as several comedy shows and an outdoor movie marathon.

Performers include Jeff Austin Band, The Avett Brothers, Marcia Ball, Sam Bush, The Robert Cray Band, Melissa Etheridge, Folger Consort, The David Grisman Bluegrass Experience, Hot Tuna, Hunter Hayes, Hollywood Vampires, Gabriel Iglesias, Derek Jacobi, Los Tigres del Norte, Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles, Pat Metheny, Megan Mullally, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Trevor Noah, Nick Offerman, The Santa Rosa Symphony, Boz Scaggs, Shanghai Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China, The Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma, Lindsey Stirling, Taj Mahal, Steve Tyrell, “Weird Al” Yankovic and Chris Young.

“This is my second summer here, and I’ve had a great time putting together the lineup,” commented GMC Senior Director of Popular Programming Peter Williams. “I think you’ll find something here for everyone, some comedy, pop, bluegrass, big names and new talents. What I love about Weill Hall + Lawn is that you can sit inside and listen in a concert setting, or sit outside and have a picnic with family and friends. Either way, you’ll enjoy a great show in a beautiful setting.”

During the months of July, August and September, the rear wall of Weill Hall is fully opened to reveal the beautifully landscaped and terraced Weill Lawn. A large video screen projects the performance on stage in real time so that every patron on Weill Lawn has a close-up view of the stage. Seating is available both inside the concert hall and outdoors in table and lawn seating taking full advantage of unparalleled views of the Sonoma mountains.  Lawn patrons are encouraged to bring blankets and low-back folding chairs, and to pack a picnic or enjoy on-site concessions during the concert. Outside liquids are not permitted on-site. Free water bottle filling stations are available. Lawn tickets for children ages 2-12 are half price for the duration of the summer and children under 2 are free.

Tickets to Summer 2016 in Weill Hall + Lawn go on sale to MasterCard cardholders and 2015/16 GMC Season subscribers on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 10 a.m. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 10 a.m. Call 1.866.955.6040 or visit gmc.sonoma.edu.
