ensō, in the Zen tradition, is the spiritual practice of painting a circle in one uninhibited brushstroke, symbolizing a moment when the mind is free to let the body create. The result is either an open or closed circle, the former relating to the Zen idea of wabi-sabi, or the beauty in the imperfection of all things. The latter represents a sort of transitory perfection; not that the practitioner has reached perfection, but that the moment was perfect.

“Beside You” is Dustbowl Revival’s enduring, emotionally stirring new single focused on love. The track is deeply influenced by the great Bill Withers, an amazing human I had the pleasure of knowing briefly. There are also obvious similarities between Van Morrison’s relaxed hallmark tone, Bob Dylan’s lyric poetry and even the sentiments presented in Sonny & Cher’s iconic duet, “I Got You Babe.” The slow instrumental rumble prefaces the fact that relationships are freaking hard.

Piano virtuoso Holly Bowling is proud to announce a beautiful new album featuring solo piano renditions of the music of the Grateful Dead. Seeking All That’s Still Unsung arrives everywhere on Friday, November 20. The evocative collection features nine instrumental piano interpretations of songs spanning the Grateful Dead’s extensive catalog -- both classics and deep tracks -- and is heralded by today’s release of “St. Stephen,” available on all DSPs and streaming services.

Hyper-independent French duo, The Inspector Cluzo have released the unplugged version of their song “Fishermen,” which was recorded live this past February in Biarritz at Casino Barrière, the last concert the band played as part of their Unplugged tour. “Fishermen” is a fan favorite and induces rowdy sing-a-longs every time the song is performed.  Glide Magazine premiered the song earlier this week saying that The Inspector Cluzo “rings in buoyant jazz, folk & world on ‘Fishermen.’”

After a couple years playing regularly in and around Austin, Cosmic Convoy is happy to announce the release of their first EP, Together Again for the First Time, recorded in Burleson, TX in February 2020.  Cosmic Convoy is made up of long-time friends, and was conceived in September 2017 as a classic country cover band. Over time, original songs by singer Brent Pennington began to make their way into the set, and some of these are what comprise Together Again for the First Time.

Personally curated by Elvis Costello, The Complete Armed Forces is the definitive statement of the legendary songwriter and musician’s revered and essential 1979 album, featuring the classic hits “Accidents Will Happen,” “Green Shirt,” “Oliver’s Army” and “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love & Understanding.” Leaving no musical stone unturned, no lyric notebook unrifled through and no detail left out, this new super deluxe edition vinyl box set is a thorough excavation of Costello’s vault from this me

The new politically-charged ballad from Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Charles Ellsworth will have you singing your way to the ballot (or mail) box this election.

In “Blessed,” Ellsworth explores the many injustices faced by the modern American. Reminiscent of anti-fascist folk favorite, Woody Guthrie, Ellsworth poignantly addresses topics ranging from wealth inequality and systemic oppression, to climate change.

Following up on the release of a socially-distanced music video for “Sing” from their most recent album “post-truth” (featuring the reunion of fifteen members of the band from over two decades), The Wheel Workers recruited their long-time producer and close friend Dan Workman to remaster their “lost” 2003 debut album. The record also features six bonus tracks from their 2004 live performance on John Aielli’s long-running Eklektikos program on KUTX.
