The Pamlico Sound play authentic, high-energy big band funk in an updated reading of the classic styles of greats like Sly and the Family Stone and Parliament Funkadelic. The interweaving lead vocals of Ghana Queen (LaSha Afarko) and the Reverend EverReady (Will Baumgartner) are laid over a hard-grooving rhythm section and ornamented by the notorious Soul Shouters Horns (Baumgartner, Maus Nomdeguerre, Paul Stadler, and Alice Hansen).

With one foot in the funk world and the rest kicking through the retro, fusion, and dance doors, the Jaden Carlson Band are a four-piece "funksion" ensemble from Boulder, Colorado led by female guitarist, vocalist, keyboardist and producer, Jaden Carlson. The group is comprised of some of the best talent to be heard, with varied backgrounds coming together from all over the country on bass, drums and keys.

Horizons are on the rise for up and coming band, Grassfed. Recently Releasing their debut album, the band in poised with opportunity including, top bluegrass festivals, band competitions, and an extensive summer tour.

Following the announcement of their eagerly anticipated 10th studio album, American rock band Gov’t Mule have confirmed their return to the UK in October this year. The band will be heading to Ireland to play a show in Dublin before coming to the UK for four dates in Edinburgh, Manchester, Cardiff and London.

It's an understatement to say improvisational guitar icon Steve Kimock has been keeping busy. He’s approaching an East Coast tour with his newest band KIMOCK featuring his son John Morgan Kimock on drums and frequent collaborator Leslie Mendelson on guitar and vocals.  He just wrapped up a successful yet unprecedented mini-tour of Japan.

Although I only attended one night of the first annual Spread the Word Festival, I was able to go to two wonderfully unique venues and see over four performer’s full sets. The night started over at Your Mom’s House, which has a convivial history. The venue used to be called Pearl’s and it is located on Capitol Hill in Denver. It used to be a Beauty Bar, and it has reopened to accommodate many different vibes. I thoroughly enjoyed the service and feel of this first stop, especially after Wonderlic took the stage.

Hailing from Richmond, VA and formed by brothers Andrew and Johnny, The Trongone Band is set to release their debut LP, “Keys To The House” on June 30th via Harmonized Records. Drawing from Funk, Blues, Americana and Southern Rock, the quartet is rounded out by keyboardist Ben "Wolfe" White and award-winning bassist Todd Herrington.  The band plans to begin touring this month in support of  the album.

The seventh annual Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival will be held on the Green in Morristown, New Jersey on Saturday, August 19, from noon until 10:00 p.m. This year’s free concert has a Jersey link for four out of the five groups to appear.
