April 2016

Wednesday nights at Fayetteville’s Georges Majestic Lounge have a new level of expectations thanks to Yonder Mountain String Band. Warming up the stage, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades will be on tour with Yonder for the majority of spring. Yonder, opening their set with Red Bird, it seemed like conga lines swarmed to the garden stage from the patios and the front bar.

Tomorrow night, April 3rd, join Umphrey's McGee for an intimate evening at The Vic Theatre as Umphrey’s McGee & Nothing Too Fancy Music present the Chicago premiere of Reel To Real. The archival documentary dives deeply into the early years of the band’s existence, culled from hundreds of hours of never-before-seen camcorder footage from the van & trailer days.

It’s been forty years since mandolinist and bandleader David Grisman began playing with his Quintet, a band that bended more genres into the bluegrass/acoustic idiom that ever before. His groundbreaking compositions sat nicely with the school of acoustic gypsy-swing first popularized in the United States by guitarist Django Reinhardt and fiddle player Stephane Grappelli. Entirely different than the “newgrass” music from his contemporaries John Hartford and Sam Bush, “Dawg” music was and still is truly a form of its own.

Raw, soulful, and with plenty of swagger, Town Mountain, based in Asheville, NC, releases their 5th studio album Southern Crescent on April 1, 2016 through LoHi Records. Produced and engineered by GRAMMY winner Dirk Powell, the album was recorded in Powell’s studio The Cypress House in Breaux Bridge, LA. It was mixed by Mixed by Scott Vestal at Digital Underground in Greenbrier, TN.

Native Roots, Colorado’s largest dispensary with locations across the Front Range and the high country, announced today that is has begun the process of acquiring the naming rights to Mile High Stadium, home to the Denver Broncos.  Upon approved, the stadium will be called “Native Roots Field at Mile High.”

The fate of Mile High has been in question since reports circulated that Sports Authority may not be able to continue their multi-year investment.
