Moogfest came into orbit yesterday kicking off a sequence of events to our 4 days of synthesizing music, art, and technology. You could feel the electricity stirring in the air as people began to trickle into Durham. Beginning early in the day the Moog Pop-Up factory began building the Subsequent 37 CV synthesizer that debuted at the festival. The conjoined rooms at the Power Plant Gallery hosted an array of various synthesizers and manufacturers in the Modular Marketplace.

Grammy-nominated Reggae artist Matisyahu has officially released his sixth studio album, Undercurrent today! Undercurrent is musically Matisyahu's most courageous release to date and lyrically his most vulnerable. Nearly thirteen years after the release of his first studio record, Matisyahu and his band have done something unmatched in his past repertoire.

Chicago singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Wes John Cichosz (pronounced Chee-Hoas), who performed regularly with members of Tortoise and Wilco in the 90s, has dropped his sophomore record The Moon Threads a Needle.

The Moon Threads a Needle, which weaves elements of rock, blues, jazz and folk into an intensely personal album, has received airplay on WRBC, WLUW, UIC Radio, CHIRP and 103.9 The Fox, and Cichosz has been interviewed on WXRT and WZRD.

On June 2, UMe will release eight individual albums from their Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers catalog as stand-alone vinyl titles.

When legendary hip hop personality Fab Five Freddy introduced the members of Brownout at the 2017 Austin Music Awards, it seemed fitting that a legend of that stature would be tasked to pass the floor to a band of musicians who already have earned the respect of Prince (RIP), GZA (Wu-Tang Clan), Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), Bernie Worrel (RIP), and Ozzy Osbourne. The latter became a fan from Brownout’s previous two releases; Brownout Presents: Brown Sabbath and Brownout Presents: Brown Sabbath Vol. II.
