When E.G. Phillips talks about his musical influences, it sounds like some cosmic cocktail party: Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, Blossom Dearie, Tom Lehrer. And don’t forget the time-travelling gate-crasher: Talking about his lyrics, Phillips says, “One of the parlor games that I’m sure people could play is ‘Spot the obscure Doctor Who reference.’”

Champion of modern Jamaican reggae, Protoje, has proven that even in modern times, traditional reggae is as relevant as ever. A staple of Easy Star Records, he has been one of the faces of the roots reggae revival, and since the release of his newest album “A Matter of Time” his influence is now more prolific than ever. Fresh off his Grammy nomination for best reggae album of 2019, we sat down with Protoje at this year’s Cali Roots to speak with him about his recent success, his favorite milestones, and above all how he continues to stay humble through it all.

Rumpke Mountain Boys take off on a big Summer Tour, kicking things off in Indiana, before heading to the East Coast and then stretch all the way out West to Alaska.

This Summer Tour has stops at some of the premiere Summer festivals such as Smoky Run, Romp, Northwest String Summit and SalmonFest in Alaska. This will be Rumpke’s first time in Alaska, where Summer days stretch into the night, which is perfect for their Trashgrass style, that has them known for picking late into the night.

Today, Nashville’s Lindsay Lou releases “Ready,” the second single from a collection of country-soul inspired songs from the rising singer-songwriter.

On June 22nd, the annual music, art and food festival known as Molestice will return to the 100 block of N. Mole Street in Philadelphia to celebrate the Summer Solstice with live performances from nationally touring and regional acts, local favorite food trucks, local craft beers and all ages activities.  The annual block party begins at Noon and will run until 8:00 PM EST and is free to the public.
