During the lockdown last year, Reed Mathis had lots of time on his hands. Setting an intention to use the downtime wisely, he decided to visit his storage space filled with countless recordings, photos and miscellaneous ephemera from his years and years of touring and recording with underground jazz experimentalists, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey.

For the past 12 years, the 30A Songwriters Festival has attracted thousands of die-hard live music fans from around the country to hear original songwriters spanning many genres of music perform their songs. The beach resort towns along Highway 30A on the Gulf of Mexico feature 30 venues presenting over 230 songwriters and 300+ solo, band and in-the-round performances throughout the weekend of January 14 – 17, 2022.

Minka / Beard-o-Bees is Ari Rubin (Minka) and Jesse Miller (Lotus, Octave Cat). Their debut release, the 5-track EP Paella blends electronica synths, dance-inducing beats, indie song-writing and a surprising amount of soul. After releasing the single “Out for Blood” the full EP is now available.

Slightly Stoopid and the San Diego Padres today announced the band’s return to San Diego for their first traditional concert performance in over two years! The show signals a return for the Ocean Beach, CA natives, whose summer concerts have become a local tradition. The highly anticipated hometown show will take place on Saturday, September 11 at 3:00pm PT at Petco Park, a first for the band at the Major League Baseball venue. Setting the tone for the evening will be a special performance by 8-time Grammy winner

Midnight North, the Bay Area roots and folk act, has released their latest single, “Silent Lonely Drifter” today on Americana Vibes. The song is the final in a series of singles off the band’s forthcoming album There’s Always a Story.

Virginia’s breakout garage-rock improvisers Kendall Street Company return today with a new song and visualizer, “Say Hey!” ahead of their September 24 album release, Inertia from the double LP The Year the Earth Stood Still. A single-cut of the album track, “Say Hey!” speaks to the stagnant nature of life under lockdown and the psychological effects of social isolation.
