This weekend, the jamming quartet Spafford thrilled fans in Colorado with a set of unforgettable performances highlighted by the finale Saturday night at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver.  The packed audience was treated to a surprise guest appearance by Sammi Garrett of Cool Cool Cool, who lent her powerful vocals to an electrifying cover of Olivia Rodrigo's "Can't Catch Me Now."

It’s about time an adventurous group of talented, open-minded individuals gave the good ol’ Grateful Dead’s music a fresh, vibrant makeover. BERTHA: Grateful Drag has added a joyous splash of color to one of the most cherished musical catalogs in existence. The timeless music of the Grateful Dead is now being presented with all the sparkle and wonder it deserves. As far as we know, BERTHA is the only Grateful Dead drag tribute band in our galaxy—though who’s to say what might be happening elsewhere?

Prolific New Orleans bassist George Porter Jr., will be releasing a brand new instrumental album entitled Porter’s Pocket with his longstanding quartet the Runnin’ Pardners available via Color Red on February 7, 2025. Porter Jr is joined by his longtime collaborator keyboardist Michael Lemmler (Jubilation, TriFunctA), drummer Terrence Houston (The Funky Meters, Toubab Krewe), and newest member Chris Adkins (Raphael Saadiq, Mark Broussard) on guitar.

Topping off a year of high profile festival plays, coast-to-coast tours, and the launch of a new on-demand platform, future funk all-stars Lettuce have released a new digital single entitled “Monorail 3000.” Captured during the sessions for the band’s high-octane 2012 release Fly, “Monorail 3000” pays homage to “The Godfather of Soul,” James Brown, with a pocket rhythm section, hypnotic grooves, and sultry horn lines. Elvis Costello and Steve Nieve have announced a 15-date tour, opening in Easton, PA, on February 19, 2025. The tour includes stops at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, NJ; the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY; and two nights at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, NY.

The tour will also visit Wilmington, DE; Beverly, MA; Portsmouth, NH; Montclair, NJ; Ithaca and Buffalo, NY; and Ann Arbor, MI, showcasing selections from a songbook that spans fifty years and countless depths.

The highly anticipated, sold-out “SOULSHINE” benefit concert, supporting relief and recovery efforts in Western North Carolina and Florida after Hurricanes Helene and Milton, will now be available worldwide via a livestream.
