Austin’s soulful, jam-infused American rock band Nether Hour is turning up the heat with the release of their groove-heavy single, “Sex Ed,” available Thursday, February 13 via Nether Family Records. This third tantalizing preview of their forthcoming eight-track album, MOONSHINE, arrives ahead of the album’s official release on March 14, 2025.

“This song has been around since 2018 when I played it with our group Donny Jewelz, featuring Maurice Thomas, our late drummer Judson Greene, and JaRon Marshall of the Black Pumas,” shares band member Bishop. “Back then, gigs didn’t pay much, so Bob, Bercy, and Jud started playing as a trio, and I’d join in on guitar or bass when I could. I first fell in love with it playing bass with Bob and Jud at Drafting Room on Rainey. The song has evolved over the years, but its core remains the same. We recorded at Orb Studio with Oliver Ocean and finished it at 601 Studio in South Austin. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”
Alongside the new single, Nether Hour is also rolling out their 2025 “MOONSHINE” Tour, kicking off this Friday, January 24 in Houston at The Continental Club. The band continues to gain traction beyond Austin’s borders, bringing their tenacious sound to new audiences in Colorado, the Southeast, and on the fraternity circuit. Nether Hour has been causing a stir in the heart of Austin, TX, converting every dive bar and backroad juke joint into a full-blown musical revival. The trio of unapologetic rebels includes Bobby on gritty vocals and razor-sharp guitar riffs, Bishop unleashing searing leads and mandolin work, and Bercy’s gut-punch bass lines.
Nether Hour introduced the upcoming album MOONSHINE with lead single “Long As I Ain’t Alone” on November 1, followed by “Look My Way” on December 13, which premiered exclusively with American Songwriter. The new tracks showcase the band’s signature fusion of Louisiana’s swampy grooves and Texas-sized funk, blues, soul, and rock ’n’ roll.
Before joining forces as Nether Hour, Bercy and Bishop stirred up trouble in the band Swamp Brew, while Bobby led his own rowdy outfit. Fate stepped in when JaRon Marshall of the Black Pumas and SXSW 2018 brought Bobby, Bishop, and Bercy together. Since then, they’ve carved out their own space in Austin’s music scene, including a stint as the Kill Tony after-party band for over a year.
