Colorado band Float Like a Buffalo is breaking new ground with their upcoming release, Float Like a Buffalo Live with the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, out April 18th on all streaming platforms. Known for their signature blend of rock, jam, funk, soul, and brass-fueled energy, the band took things to another level with a live collaboration featuring a 26-piece orchestra.

The album was recorded live at The Lincoln Theater in Cheyenne, WY, and features twelve original tracks - all lesser-played “deep cuts” from the band’s catalog, selected to maximize the power of symphonic arrangement. It’s a fusion of worlds - classical and contemporary, strings and rock riffs - representing the power of artistic collaboration and creative risk. In a time when genre boundaries are constantly shifting, this project is a compelling reminder of what can happen when artists build bridges and create together.

“To have this kind of arrangement behind our music - it’s like scoring your own movie,” said drummer Jon Cales. “We wanted the world to hear a side of Float they’ve never heard before.”

Float Like a Buffalo will also appear on Colorado & Company on 9NEWS (NBC affiliate) on April 18, performing three songs and discussing the project’s inspiration. A full mixed and mastered video of the orchestral performance will follow in July, giving fans a front-row seat to this cinematic night of music.
