OMAD Records proudly announces the reissue of Bob Mosley’s long-underappreciated 1972 Warner Bros. solo debut—remastered, rejuvenated, and re-released at last. Available now exclusively on CD, this collector’s gem has been reborn using a combination of advanced AI and ‘DeMix’ technology, ensuring that fans can finally experience Mosley’s soulful vocals and propulsive bass the way they were always meant to be heard.
Best known as the rugged, bluesy force in Moby Grape, Bob Mosley poured that same raw spirit into his first solo effort. Backed by top-tier musicians, including drummer Allen Wehr, guitarists Woodie Berry and Frank Smith, plus the storied Memphis Horns (and pedal steel from Ed Black), Mosley delivered an 11-track powerhouse that bridges bluesy rock, countrified yearning, and soulful R&B. From the groove-laden horn swirls of “Gypsy Wedding” to the hard-rocking punch of “The Joker,” critics have marveled at how this newly enhanced version “packs a wallop” (Shindig!) and “showcases 11 Mosley originals that deserve a wider audience” (Americana Highways).
Reissue producer John DeNicola—the Academy Award-winning songwriter behind “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” and a longtime Moby Grape devotee—secured the best possible source material from Warner Bros. to ‘de-mix’ the record. Using cutting-edge AI processes, he painstakingly separated out the drums, bass, and vocals to give the rhythm section a proper boost. “Bob was one of the most influential rock bassists of all time,” says DeNicola, “and for a bass player’s record to be light on bass is… not optimal. This reissue restores the low end and balances the rhythm section so the album finally sounds the way it should have in 1972.”
Early reviewers are hailing the results:
MOJO raves about the “stunning new clarity and presence” of Mosley’s vocals.
Making A Scene highlights DeNicola’s achievement in giving the music “a fuller sound” using AI tools.
Music-news.com calls it “a beautiful reissue/remaster… well worth rediscovery.”
The album’s diverse tracks—spanning blues-tinged rockers (“The Joker,” “Gone Fishin’”), dynamic pop (“Let The Music Play,” “Squaw Valley Nils”), and tender ballads (“Thanks,” “So Many Troubles”)—further prove why Mosley’s fiery creativity deserves a spotlight. A Marine veteran who has faced personal struggles throughout his career, Mosley stands at 81 today, living in California with his wife Connie, and receiving full proceeds from OMAD’s new edition. “It feels great to give people an opportunity to hear Bob’s masterpiece the way it never was before,” DeNicola adds.
