In the 90s, San Diego's Mission Bay was the epicenter of summer music, hosting legendary events like The Mission Bay Summer Concert Series, Vans Warped Tour, X-Games, MTV's "Rock the Vote," and the OMBAC Coming Out Party. These unforgettable events have inspired a new generation of music festivals in San Diego, including San Diego Bayfest, now in its fifth year, which featured Sublime this past July, as well as the upcoming Mission Bayfest, now in its third year, and various concerts at Petco Park and Beach House produced by OutsideShows.
Since its inception, Bayfest has cultivated a dedicated community of reggae enthusiasts who flock to San Diego's most scenic parks to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere. The festival is driven by three passionate partners and San Diego locals: Joe Rinaldi, managing partner at Music Box in Little Italy; Dominic Coleman, owner and operator of Single Fin Surf Grill and Sport Fishing; and DJ Mikey Beats, a partner at Sleeping Giant Music.
Adding to the festival's rich legacy, Riley Hagey has recently joined the Bayfest production team. Riley, the son of Rob Hagey—founder of the legendary San Diego Street Scene—brings with him a deep-rooted passion for the music festival industry. "Growing up in this industry, I learned the true meaning of family and hard work," says Riley. "My father, Rob Hagey, saw that drive in me, and now, working with Dominic and Mike, I feel that same sense of family again."
