Canadian soul and blues powerhouse, Ollee Owens, proudly announces the release of her latest album, Nowhere to Hide, slated for October 25th, 2024, via her own label imprint, Ollee Owens Music. The album’s first single, “Some Days,” debuted on August 30th, setting the stage for the much-anticipated full release, with DistroKid handling distribution.

Produced by renowned Nashville producer Bobby Blazier, Nowhere to Hide shines with contributions from some of the most sought-after musicians in the industry, including the legendary Muscle Shoals guitarist Will McFarlane, who features on eight of the album’s eleven tracks.

A Soulful Anthem in "Some Days"

“The writing of ‘Some Days’ came out of a desire to acknowledge the ups and downs of our day-to-day experiences, while calling out the resilience of the human spirit, no matter what we come up against,” says Owens. “Sonically, we imagined it as a blues-infused song that leaves the listener feeling happy. It was recorded in Nashville with some of the best session musicians in Music City.” The single, recorded with Chris Rodriguez, Craig Young, Bobby Blazier, and DeMarco Johnson, captures the essence of the blues while delivering a message of hope and resilience.

A Follow-Up to 2022’s Cannot Be Unheard

Returning to the studio after the success of her 2022 release, Cannot Be Unheard, Owens delivers her most compelling and heartfelt work to date. Nowhere to Hide is a rich blend of blues, rock, and soul, offering listeners a collection of stylish, sophisticated tracks that showcase her dynamic vocal range and deeply personal storytelling.

The album includes eight original songs co-written by Owens and standout covers, including a powerful rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Lord Protect My Child,” which strikes an emotional chord given Owens’ personal connection to the song.

A Journey of Resilience and Discovery

Owens, a native of the farming community in New Bothwell, Manitoba, grew up listening to artists like Dylan, Delta Blues legends, The Staple Singers, and Etta James—an influence that permeates her music. After taking a hiatus from music to focus on raising her three daughters, one of whom has a cognitive disability, Owens returned with a renewed passion and depth in her songwriting.

“I learned so much during this process,” Owens shares. “There was a real opportunity to dig deeper and embody the lyrics in a way that feels completely authentic.”

Recorded at Nashville’s Sweetbriar Studio and Gnome Studios, Nowhere to Hide brings together a dream team of session musicians. “Bobby has an incredible ability to bring people together,” says Owens of producer Bobby Blazier. “We all got in the studio, gave it everything we had, and made some great music.”

Upcoming Live Shows

Owens will celebrate the release of Nowhere to Hide with a Canadian concert in October, followed by plans for further touring in the spring. Fans can expect more live performances across Canada, including festival appearances at the Roots Blues and BBQ Festival in Drumheller, Alberta, and Calgary’s National Music Centre.
