CAVE FLOWERS TO RELEASE SECOND ALBUM WESTERN SPECTRE ON JANUARY 17, 2025

After a period of deep exploration and creative refinement, Los Angeles-based band Cave Flowers is proud to announce the release of their second album, Western Spectre, on January 17, 2025. A dusty, country-tinged landscape of songs marked by a restless, ramshackle soul, Western Spectre distills the band’s grudging admiration for the tangled beauty that defines life in the sprawling “everything-town” of Los Angeles.

Formed by ex-Seattleite Andy McAllister, who traded the Pacific Northwest drizzle for the hazy Southern California hills, Cave Flowers took shape when McAllister’s folk skeletons met the country-gilded guitar work of Henry Derek Elis. Their sound—equal parts Waylon Jennings toughness and Creedence Clearwater Revival earthiness—quickly solidified with the addition of bassist Ben Coil and, by an auspicious stroke of luck, drummer Curtis Pettygrove. The quartet soon found their stride, blending storytelling grit with a freewheeling sonic aesthetic.

In just two days, the band tracked ten songs live at the revered Heritage Recording Company with engineer Chris Rondinella—whose early work with Levon Helm left a strong imprint on his approach. Guest musician Jon Niemann (GospelbeacH) lent the keys that give Western Spectre its warm, lived-in character, while Jordan Walton’s additional vocals, organ, and pedal steel accents further enrich the album’s textured palette.

Mixed and mastered by Borja Regueira, and adorned with album artwork by Carlos Bermejo, Western Spectre captures the worn edges, subtle twang, and vibrant contradictions of Los Angeles life. Each track resonates with Cave Flowers’ soulful Americana and thoughtful craftsmanship, making the album a spirited follow-up to their debut.

Western Spectre will be available January 17, 2025 on all major streaming platforms.
