Dark Star Orchestra, the premier Grateful Dead tribute band, has announced their highly anticipated fall tour, culminating in the much-loved ‘Cosmic New Year’s Run.’ This tour is set to be a highlight for jam band enthusiasts and Grateful Dead fans, featuring a series of shows that embody the spirit of the Dead with DSO’s unique interpretations and energy.
The fall tour will take the band through key cities in the Northeast, with the tour kicking off on November 15 with two nights at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, a venue that holds a deep connection with the Grateful Dead’s history. Soon after Winter arrives, the four-show New Year's run kicks off at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., then to Philadelphia, before concluding with the Cosmic New Year’s Eve back at the Capitol Theatre. This four-show finale is not just a celebration of the New Year but a tribute to the band’s dedication to keeping the music of the Grateful Dead alive.
Rob Barraco, DSO’s keyboardist, shared his excitement about the upcoming performances at the Capitol Theatre, stating, “In my opinion, The Cap is the most iconic east coast Grateful Dead-oriented venue. Peter Shapiro has put together a temple to all things Grateful Dead housed in a holy place of Dead history. The production is second to none. DSO treasures our shows there. New Year’s is becoming a hallowed tradition. The addition of another weekend means more variety from us show-wise.”

The earliest and only date for the band on the calendar in 2025 is Dark Star's Jamaican Jam in the Sand XII January 14-17 in Runaway Bay, Jamaica offering four nights of beachside shows as a musical celebration with special guests Melvin Seals & JGB with special guest Jennifer Hartswick along with Anders Osborne & Jackie Greene Band.
