Rising indie-rock five-piece flipturn made their long-awaited national television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week (January 16), performing their recent AAA radio favorite, “Rodeo Clown.” The track—celebrated for its “irresistible hooks” (Consequence) and “next-level melodies” (Brooklyn Vegan)—embodies the band’s penchant for pairing infectious alt-pop sonics with introspective storytelling. “Rodeo Clown” explores the idea of coping with stress through vice as a means of escaping reality, a theme woven throughout the group’s forthcoming LP, Burnout Days, due out January 24 via Dualtone Records.
