Brazilian soul rocker Frederico7 has been making waves since 2019 as his debut album Exótico Americano charted #1 in the North American World Music Radio charts among greats Salif Keita and Bomba Estéreo. Rolling Stone Magazine took notice declaring it “A delicious cocktail of bossa, soul, funk & dub with a dash of psychedelia.”
Now he's back releasing two powerful songs about the universality of love, loss, mental illness and the search for truth within. Scheduled for worldwide release on September 17th plus a special live show to celebrate on Saturday, September 18th at SouthAmericano fest (at the FarOut lounge in Austin, TX). The tracks were recorded during the 2020 quarantine with seasoned musicians in São Paulo Brazil, Nashville and Austin. “Truth is Power,” a song with a classic 80's pop feel, bumping bass lines and sultry vocals takes us on a journey of self-acceptance and liberation illuminating the central questions about the nature of truth and our grasping of reality in the post-modern world.
“Missing my Children” is groovy, soulful Pop Reggae dedicated to all who for different reasons (economic, emotional trauma, migration, alienation, war, pandemic, death, etc.) find themselves missing their children and/or their parents.
With master bassist and producer Sidão Santos (of Seu Jorge); Brazilian guitar legend Sergio Yazbek (of Cidade Negra) and producer/engineer Beto Martinez (Grupo Fantasma/Brownout) lending their talent and creativity to Frederico7's vocals and poignant lyrics (in English this time!), the tracks solidify Frederico7's place in the Global Pop/Worldbeat scene in Austin and beyond.
Frederico7 enthusiastically states, “I continue to write music in Portuguese and Spanish however at this time I am working on an EP of English songs only (due in 2022) as a way to thank and share a deeper side of myself with the American public that has welcomed my music with open hearts and ears. Music allows us to share the essence of our soul and these songs accomplished that.”
The 2 tracks are accompanied by music videos as well, which will debut on his Youtube channel (www.bit.ly/frederico7channel). 100% of the revenue from songs downloaded from Frederico7's Bandcamp will be donated to the SIMS foundation.
