There’s no time to rest for Gov’t Mule this year. The GRAMMY-nominated band, led by guitar legend, vocalist, songwriter and producer Warren Haynes, recently wrapped their massively successful Dark Side of the Mule Summer Tour and is now launching their next headlining outing, the Peace…Like A River World Tour in support of their latest critically acclaimed studio album, Peace…Like A River. The 21-date North American leg begins tonight (September 13th) in Toronto and will see the renowned quartet – Haynes [guitar, vocals], Matt Abts [drums], Danny Louis [keyboards, guitar, and backing vocals], and Kevin Scott [bass] – perform throughout Canada and the U.S. until October 15th. The Toronto and Montreal shows will feature very special guest Big Sugar, who share a deep history together dating back to the start of Gov’t Mule in the mid-90s. Then, in November, the road warriors will bring their acclaimed live show over to Europe for an 11-date run from November 6-21 stopping in such cities as London, Munich, Vienna, Paris, Brussels, and Milan.
Additionally, Gov’t Mule has more dates coming up this fall on Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival Tour as well as a few festival appearances and their New Year’s Run from last year is set for December 29th in Philadelphia and December 30th and 31st in New York City. The band’s annual “concert-cation” experience, Island Exodus 14, also returns to Jewel Paradise Cove Resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica January 14-18, 2024 featuring 3 full sets from Gov’t Mule and a solo set from Warren Haynes, as well as Robert Randolph Band, Samantha Fish Band feat. Jesse Dayton, and Pressing Strings, among others.

This past summer, Gov’t Mule revived their renowned and extremely rare Dark Side of the Mule show in honor of the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon album. Following a full set of Mule originals, the four-piece was joined by multi-instrumentalist Jackie Greene along with Ron Holloway (sax), Machan Taylor (background vocals) and Sophia Ramos (background vocals) for a second full set featuring the music of Pink Floyd and a spectacular laser light show. The DSOTM show was praised by critics and fans alike, with Glide Magazine hailing, “The band’s flawless execution of each track showcased their exceptional musicianship and attention to detail. Warren Haynes’ guitar skills shone through, adding a new dimension to the already iconic guitar solos of the original album. His vocals were equally mesmerizing, capturing the emotional depth and complexity of Pink Floyd’s lyrics with grace and authenticity.” New bassist Kevin Scott also received high praise across the board from this summer’s tour, with many drawing comparisons to original founding bass player, the late Allen Woody, with Stereo Embers Magazine declaring, “Scott plays like he was born to be in Mule.” Gov’t Mule first debuted the acclaimed set in 2008 and only performed it live 10 times in total prior to this summer’s amphitheater tour. The final Dark Side of the Mule set will take place during the North American fall tour on October 14th in St. Augustine, FL.
Released June 16th, Peace…Like A River (Fantasy Records), the band’s 12th studio album, has been receiving rave reviews, hailed as “perfection,” “captivating,” “riveting,” and among the band’s best. PRESS HERE to listen. The 12-song rock collection, the follow-up to Gov’t Mule’s chart-topping, GRAMMY-nominated blues album, Heavy Load Blues, includes the singles “Dreaming Out Loud” featuring Ivan Neville and Ruthie Foster, “Same As It Ever Was” and “Made My Peace” well as additional guest appearances from Billy F Gibbons, Billy Bob Thornton, and Celisse. Peace…Like A River was recorded during the same sessions as Heavy Load Blues at The Power Station New England with co-producer John Paterno (Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, Los Lobos) alongside Haynes. The albums, however, were created in different rooms, with no shared gear or instruments, keeping the two concurrent projects with their own unique identity and character. Thematically, the new collection explores the seismic changes the world has gone through over the past few years. Influenced both in his songwriting and playing by what Haynes calls “the golden era of rock, soul, jazz and blues,” Gov’t Mule combines the best and most enduring qualities from all those musical strains to create a timeless piece of art on Peace…Like A River that could have easily come out in the 1970s. Peace…Like A River is available now digitally, on CD and vinyl, and in a Deluxe Edition (on CD only) including the special 5-track Time Of The Signs Bonus EP in addition to the original 12 tracks.
