Chicago's Great Divide recently released their self-titled, sophomore record full of soul, passion and groove. Performer Magazine attests Great Divide is, “Rock n’ soul custom-made for a sweaty live setting.” Fitting, as the band is about to head back out on the road in support of their new album. A full list of tour dates can be found below.
Recently, Great Divide had the opportunity to record a few songs live, with no overdubs at the legendary Chicago Recording Company. To prepare fans for their arrival to a stage near you, Great Divide is offering up a free download of all three tracks recorderd that day as, Great Divide CRC Sessions and you can download the complimentary EP here.
Over the past month, the band has been leaking the tracks through videos captured of the sessions. First was "Don't Do It," inspired by The Band's cut of Marvin Gaye's 1964 smash. The next was the summer-swingin' "Moorie," and now the final video is live for album opener, "Ain't No Roads."
Great Divide was produced by Dan McMahon and Darren Garvey (Cory Chisel) and engineered by James Auwarter (Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Rihanna, John Legend), who also recruited some gospel singers from the Chicago’s South Side to sing on the album. The track “Fast Train” features up-and-coming Ann Arbor/Brooklyn musician Theo Katzman and the final icing on the cake came from local brass-men dubbed, “HornBread,” part of an up and coming Chicago hip hop/soul/jazz band Sidewalk Chalk.
