"My Mans Was a Funky Cat" tells the story of a funky cat who knows what life is all about. Featuring a chunky horn section and a bombastic organ performance by Richmond, VA legend Daniel Clarke, the track blends classic funk with a modern twist. Fans of Lettuce, Little Feat, and Vulfpeck will love its dynamic arrangement and vibrant instrumentation, making it perfect for Funk Rock, All Funked Up, and Modern Jam Band playlists. Kendall Street Company showcases their versatility and musical prowess, pushing the boundaries with each release.
“With the 2024 Singles Project we wanted to release a monthly series of songs that each bring something different to the table,” said the band’s lead singer, Louis Smith. “We are currently exploring lots of different feels and genres, so we wanted to experiment with that in this year’s releases. My Mans Was a Funky Cat was born during soundcheck at Stanley’s Pub in Cincinnati and is the finale of our little funk trio. We hope it makes you dance and brings a smile to your face!”
