Psychedelic funk pioneers Lettuce have teamed up with nugs.net to launch Lettuce Live, a brand-new subscription-based platform that will house exclusive on-demand audio and video concert footage, showcasing the band where they shine the most—the live performance setting in front of their fans. Over the course of their three-decade career, the band has built a reputation for constant evolution, electrifying improvisation, and fostering tight-knit musical brotherhoods and fan communities. Now, fans can indulge in the ultimate experience with real-time concert uploads, regularly updated unreleased shows, and access to the band's entire discography at lettucelive.com.
The initial batch of live audio footage will feature performances from 2024, including a February show from their VIBE tour in Santa Fe, New Mexico, as well as most of their performances supporting reggae legend Ziggy Marley on his Circle of Peace tour this summer. Select on-demand full-length concert footage includes a 2019 performance at First Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota; a 2022 show at Tipitina’s in New Orleans, Louisiana; footage from this year’s Daze Between Festival with special guest John Scofield; this summer’s standout show at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheatre in Vail, Colorado, and more.
Reflecting on the band's career, chemistry, and community-building, guitarist Adam "Shmeeans" Smirnoff says, "I think what makes it special is our years of cultivating our own brand of improvisation—our own brand of communication that thrives because of our shared vision of musicality, years of friendship, and the idea that we all enjoy space and leaving room for each other. I believe it was Miles [Davis] who said the space between the notes is more important than the notes themselves. That's a concept we've all embraced deeply. What I hope fans get out of this is the emotional content behind the notes we play, seeing from show to show and song to song how things evolve, and sharing in the joy we feel when we play together."
In addition to regularly uploaded content and on-demand live audio and video, Lettuce's entire discography will be available on the platform, from their 2002 debut Outta Here to rare 45s like "Don't Be Afraid to Try / Yakitori," and their upcoming remastered edition of the fan-favorite Live in Tokyo, available on September 13th. Lettuce Live is a one-stop shop for diehard fans and newcomers alike.
