On March 3, Nathaniel Rateliff kicked off his sold-out And It’s Still Alright tour—which marked a nine month continued run. Nine days later on March 12 the rest of the tour was canceled when the pandemic hit. After months of virtual shows and livestreams, Rateliff is set to perform five socially distanced shows at Colorado’s renowned Red Rocks Amphitheatre from September 15 through September 21—his first performances with an audience since March. The dates will feature various aspects of Rateliff’s stellar musicianship, ranging from stripped-back moments with just his voice and acoustic guitar to a full 10-piece folk band accompaniment, which includes a string quartet. The dates will also feature opening act Kevin Morby, who was originally scheduled to perform with Rateliff as part of his cancelled Red Rocks dates in August.

“We want to get out there and play,” says Rateliff. “We feel so fortunate that Red Rocks is our hometown venue and look forward to having people at normal capacities in the future. But until that time it will feel great to make the best of the current situation, we want to get back to that live energy. These shows will be special for us, and hopefully the fans, as we will have our full production, custom light show and projections that were featured on the original tour that was unfortunately cancelled.”

In order to follow local social distancing and venue capacity under state regulations, the performances on September 15, 16, 18, 19 and 21 will have a maximum capacity of 175 attendees. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, September 9 at 10AM MST on AXS ticketing. There will be a lottery system as well as a small allotment of higher priced tickets for guaranteed entry. The show will be general admission.

The Marigold Project is Rateliff's foundation dedicated to economic, racial and social justice. All funds raised through the Red Rocks shows next week will be distributed to organizations working in Colorado to propel their mission forward. Earlier this year, Rateliff released his latest solo album, And It’s Still Alright, on Stax Records. The album as well as its title track are nominated for “Album of the Year” and “Song of the Year” at the 2020 Americana Awards & Honors, which take place on September 16 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. In addition, the album peaked at #3 on iTunes’ “Top Albums” chart, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s “Americana/Folk” chart, landed at #2 on their “Current Rock” chart and resided at #1 on the Americana Albums Chart for eight consecutive weeks. The title track, “And It’s Still Alright” was #1 for eight consecutive weeks at Triple A Radio, #1 for nine consecutive weeks at the Americana Singles chart and #1 for three weeks at Non-Commercial radio. “Time Stands” also peaked at #1 on the Americana Singles chart and is currently in the Top 5 at Triple A Radio.
