Inspired by the sheer excitement and thrill experienced during the New Orleans Jazz Fest, the indomitable Bill Kreutzmann has announced his intentions to reconvene 'Billy & The Kids' for two special shows this summer. Kreutzmann's legendary drumming helped power the Grateful Dead for their entire thirty-year career, and his dynamic group 'Billy & The Kids' continue to spread the Dead's musical legacy with a fresh and vibrant voice.
Kreutzmann's vision for the new shows merges his love for the water with his passion for land-based performances. The aptly titled "Dead on the Water" series will see Billy & The Kids performing right by the water's edge but still rooted firmly on the land, aiming to take the audience on a journey far beyond the physical location without ever leaving port.
Joining Bill Kreutzmann will be a stellar line-up including Tom Hamilton, Aron Magner, Reed Mathis, James Casey, and Jeffrey James Franca, along with a promise of surprise guest appearances, or as Kreutzmann hints, "a friend or two."
The first show will take place at the Pier Six Pavilion in Baltimore on August 16, followed by a performance at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City on August 18.
Tickets will be available on Friday, June 23 at 10a ET. A presale for the NYC show will start on June 22 at 10am ET.
