Rising jazz sensation Julen Rodriguez is set to release his debut single, ‘I Don’t Care At All,’ on July 12th. This highly anticipated track is the first single off his upcoming debut album, ‘Nomad,’ showcasing his energetic and fun approach to contemporary jazz.

Julen Rodriguez, a drummer and composer with a rich cultural background, is stepping into the spotlight after collaborating with renowned musicians such as Martin Wind, Mike Rodriguez, Ryoma Takenaga, and the famed Spanish pianist Marco Mezquida. His new single ‘I Don’t Care At All’ is an exciting introduction to his unique musical world, blending bright, percussive, and grooving sounds with the complexities of contemporary jazz.

Rodriguez’s quintet, formed from some of his closest friends and collaborators, embarked on an extensive tour across Spain. This journey established a strong camaraderie and solidified the group’s distinctive sound, culminating in the recording of their debut album in Zaragoza. The quintet features NYC rising stars, including Ryoma Takenaga (Chief Adjuah, Ulysses Owens), pianist Archish Arun, saxophonist Connor Sobieri, and trumpeter Tyler Prosch.

Julen Rodriguez, born in Madrid and raised between Barcelona and New York City, combines the musical traditions of his diverse heritage. Being half-Puerto Rican and half-Basque, his music merges the intensity of New York’s Jazz Fusion scene with the delicate flamenco-infused jazz of Spain. Having played with Spain’s acclaimed Proyecto Jazz for Kids for over eight years, Julen has now become an in-demand drummer in New York’s jazz and underground rock scene.

His impressive career includes performances at prestigious venues such as Rotterdam’s North Sea Jazz Festival, Spain’s historic Rock N’ Blues Bar, and New York City mainstays like NuBlu and Mercury Lounge. Currently studying at New York University, Julen hones his craft under the guidance of Ari Hoenig, Tony Moreno, and Michael Wolffe.

Julen’s upcoming international tour with Proyecto Jazz For Kids this summer will coincide with the release of his debut singles. Following ‘I Don’t Care At All,’ the second single, ‘Why Not?,’ is slated for release on August 28th. Both tracks are part of his debut album, ‘Nomad,’ set to capture the essence of his musical journey.
