Robert Randolph & the Family Band Announce Summer Tour Dates

Robert Randolph & the Family Band have announced their summer tour dates, including over a dozen festival appearances. The multi Grammy-nominated collective will make their way across the United States, headlining shows in cities like San Diego, CA and Fort Collins, CO, and playing at festivals such as Levitate Music Festival, The White Mountain Boogie N' Blues Festival and Vail Hot Summer Nights. See below for a full list of dates.

Often called the "Jimi Hendrix of the pedal steel guitar," and named one of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time by Rolling Stone's David Fricke, Randolph has, since the turn of the century, revolutionized

the role of his chosen instrument. One listen to Got Soul - the fifth studio release from the band - reaffirms that they have truly evolved into one of the most exciting, innovative outfits in contemporary music.

There's certainly no shortage of originality on Got Soul. Produced by multiple Grammy nominee Matt Pierson, the 12-song set runs the gamut from the aforementioned gospel-informed numbers to deep, funky grooves to incendiary rock-and-soul jams. The hauntingly exquisite "Heaven's Calling" features Randolph on solo steel, while guest vocalists Anthony Hamilton and Darius Rucker lend their golden pipes to "She Got Soul" and "Love Do What It Do," respectively. "I Thank You," the '60s Sam & Dave R&B smash, is completely reimagined in the hands of the Family Band and former Snarky Puppy band member, Cory Henry.

Following its release, Got Soul was nominated for the Grammy’s Best Contemporary Blues Album, making it Randolph’s fifth nod. The songwriter previously earned nominations for Best R&B Performance By A Duo/Vocal Group ("Higher Ground") and Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance ("You Are So Beautiful") in 2009 and 2006 respectively, and two 2003 nominations for Best Rock Instrumental Performance ("Squeeze") and Best Rock Gospel Album (Unclassified).
